I must admit as far as Ottawa winters go, this year we’ve been pretty lucky. That being said, as Canadians, we can’t escape the cold and dry winter air that wreaks havoc on our skin. And who would know better what our skin needs this time of year than fellow Canadians? That’s why I’ve rounded up some of our bestselling, effective, skin care products for winter, all made by Canadians!

Start with a scrub

If you find your back, arms and legs are plagued by itchy, flaky skin and no amount of lotion can offer relief, then you need to try a body scrub. Basd Indulgent Crème Brulee Coffee Scrub is a natural, organic coffee-based exfoliator rich in vitamins, antioxidants and sweet almond oil that will leave your skin feeling soft and hydrated. It can also double as your enjoyable nasal caffeine hit for the day!

Located in Toronto, Ontario, Basd founders Ashley Meston and Phil Lebeau want to make skin care products that celebrate and nourish all bodies. They strive to be transparent and only use ingredients they can be proud of.

You can never go wrong with coffee, right? The recommendation from Jess, our inventory analyst, is Fluid Coffee. Now, Fluid Coffee isn’t your conventional java bean; their beans are roasted using the power of the sun. That’s right - they’re solar roasted!
