Back to School Ready Skin: Tea Tree Oil for Acne

A good face care routine can make a big difference in the day. Not only can it help keep your skin clear and glowing, but it can also help you feel more put together, confident, and less stressed.
Back to school can be stressful: having to wake up early for class, homework, plus all the other stressors that come with the end of summer holidays. If you deal with acne on a regular basis, you can add that to the list. However, we’ve got some tips for back to school-ready skin to help make things a little easier – including using tea tree oil for acne.
You might have heard that excess moisture leads to acne, but that’s actually a myth – most people get more pimples when the skin is dry. Stress is also a leading cause of acne, and with school back in session, holidays coming up, and seasonal changes, stress levels might be up, making a great face care routine even more important.
The three-step cleansing system we recommend at Thursday Plantation is ideal for the changing of the seasons. It works for all skin types, but especially those with combination, oily or acne-prone skin.
Here’s the Thursday Plantation recommended face care routine:
Step 1: Tea Tree Face Wash Foam
This is a natural, soap-free cleanser that leaves skin feeling fresher and healthier. It’s made with 100% pure Australian tea tree oil, which is a natural antibacterial.
This allows it to target the bacteria that causes pimples, gently remove sebum excess, dirt, and make-up without irritating the skin.

Step 2: Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner
The second step in the process combines the antibacterial power of the tea tree oil with toning benefits of witch hazel. Together, this helps purify the skin and tighten pores, without over drying.

Step 3: Tea Tree Face Cream
Those with younger skin might abandon moisturizer in the summer, but as the seasons change it’s important to include in your routine.
This face cream is suited for all face types — even oily skin. It’s water-based cream that balances the skin and keeps it hydrated so pimples stay away. The cream is lightweight and includes including macadamia oil, rose hip oil, and shea butter to restore the skin.

Optional: Tea Tree Medicated Acne Gel
This optional final step is for those with acne-prone skin. Our Tea Tree Medicated Acne Gel is an invisible treatment that goes deep into the pores and targets pimples without drying out the skin around it.
Here are some other tips to help in your quest for clear skin:
- Get enough sleep. The odd all-nighter may be unavoidable, but don’t try and overdo it – this will show on your skin!
- Drink lots of water.
- Wear your sunscreen!
- Keep your face moisturized. If the natural oils in your skin are stripped (often the result of harsh astringents or cleansers), it will work to produce more oil, thus leading to pimples.
- Make sure you’re washing the day’s makeup from your skin every night before bed (or even better, whenever you get home).
- Change your pillowcase often.
