Your Postpartum Care Kit

Postpartum care for a new mom is not only about sleeping while your baby sleeps. It’s time to take care of yourself by soothing your sore bits to heal your body! These are five natural items that belong in your own postpartum care kit to help you feel your best in the first six weeks after birth.

Organic Postpartum Pads

You can expect to bleed for several weeks after having a baby. Prepare yourself with several packs of organic maternity pads and a stack of comfy underwear. You’ll be changing your pads often to keep yourself clean while you heal, especially if you had your perineum tear during childbirth. Include at least one pack of postpartum pads in your hospital bag as you’ll most likely be expected to provide your own.

New Mama Bottom Spray

One of the surprises I had after my first labour was the inability to sit comfortably thanks to stitches in my perineum and haemorrhoids. But breastfeeding a hungry newborn means lots of sitting so finding relief was a must! Earth Mama Angel Baby New Mama Bottom Spray is a toxic-free, natural spray that soothes sore bits. It contains witch hazel extract which stings a bit upon contact before it reduces inflammation. This product is still part of my family’s natural first aid kit!

Reusable Nursing Pads

After I started using cloth diapers I was a lot more open to the world of reusable personal products and switched to reusable bamboo and cotton breast pads like these Apple Cheeks Washable Nursing Pads. They are super soft, surprisingly absorbent, and didn’t leave sticky marks in my nursing bras.

Nipple Butter

Nursing a baby is hard work for your breasts and can lead to chapped nipples. Earth Mama Angel Baby’s Nipple Butter is lanolin-free with zero-toxins which means there is no need to wash it off your nipples before breastfeeding. Keep it close to where you’re nursing for a quick application after feeding your baby.

Booby Tubes

I’ll never forget when my milk came in the first few days after birth. Ouch! I ended up at the doctor’s office where I learned how to encourage let-down with warm compresses. I wish I had known about Earth Mama Angel Baby’s Booby Tubes which are 100% organic cotton shell and filled with all-natural flax seed. They can be warmed up or cooled down to help you with any breastfeeding pain that arises. The best part is that they are reusable!

You can purchase all your postpartum products through terra20’s Clean Start program. It’s a savings program for parents with children 0-5 to help you save money and make it easy to shop for eco-friendly gear for you and your babe.
