From coast to coast, July 1st is the day we as Canadians unite and celebrate our home and native land. While we love the long weekend, the BBQs, spending the day with friends and family, and the fireworks, the one extra thing our staff love to do in anticipation of the big day is to celebrate their favourite products made right in our own backyard.

At terra20, offering products that are made in Canada is extremely important to us, and we’re proud to say that over 10,000 of the products on our shelves are Canadian made! To make it easy for you to identify which products are made in Canada we’ve applied a red maple leaf icon to product shelf tags and online descriptions.

It didn’t take our staff long to choose these seven products- in fact, it was often hard to narrow it down to just one. Their faces lit up with excitement when I asked them to share why they loved their pick!

North Brew Elevation Espresso

Starting with our team in accounting, Tom’s favourite made in Canada pick is North Brew’s Elevation Espresso roast. “I enjoy a cup of coffee just as much as the next guy, but when North Brew was in-store demoing their products I couldn’t believe how smooth and flavourful their espresso was”.

Tom added that he doesn’t need to add cream, milk or sugar; it’s delightful on its own. All North Brew roasts are organic, fair trade and a percentage of sales are donated to the Ottawa Mission; you can’t go wrong with picking up a bag to try for yourself. Available in ground and whole bean, you can pick up bag online or at our Pinecrest location.

Carina Organics Botanical Hair

Chelsea (who used to be a store associate, but now works in accounting) has a lot of experience helping guests find the right product, but when it comes to her fav made in Canada pick, it’s Carina Organics Therapeutic Shampoo and Conditioner.

“I love this shampoo and conditioner combo because I am somehow prone to both oily and dry scalp, and these products seem to help with both.” She also adds how between washes this duo keeps her scalp healthy and her hair feeling clean. And apparently, a little conditioner goes a long way. One bottle can last Chelsea for almost a year. The bonus? These products have a lovely botanical scent and they are lake and septic system safe!

Craigmont Pomade Cream

Lastly, Nick, from our marketing team loves Ottawa’s own Craigmont. Made using natural ingredients in small batches, Craigmont’s Hair Pomade Cream works wonders on thick, short hair and continues to help tame Nick’s mane as he’s grown it out.

“After using styling products with silica, petroleum jelly, and other nasty ingredients, I took a chance on a healthier company carried by my barber shop,” Nick told us. In fact, when you visit terra20 to pick up a container you have Nick to thank. He loved it so much he insisted we carry it at terra20!
